Punjab accelerates cancer hospital project for early completion

The government of Punjab has accelerated construction work on a major cancer treatment facility, bringing hope to patients across the region. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed authorities to complete the project on a priority basis with work continuing around the clock.
The Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research is nearing completion, with officials intensifying efforts to meet deadlines. The chief minister conducted a digital review of the project and expressed satisfaction over the pace of development.
During the review, she inspected multiple sections of the hospital, including the main entrance hall, radiology department, mammography suite and CT scan rooms. She also examined facilities such as radiation therapy units, treatment planning rooms, simulator areas and seminar halls.

Special attention has been given to patient comfort, with modern waiting areas and advanced air handling units being installed. Authorities said that every aspect of the project, from construction materials to medical equipment, is being closely monitored to ensure quality standards.
To support hospital operations, 219 positions have already been advertised, with 32 candidates selected so far. Additionally, approval has been granted for 415 more positions, with recruitment expected to begin soon.
The chief minister has also instructed officials to appoint highly qualified professionals, including the dean, director and other key staff, to ensure efficient management of the facility.
Officials say the hospital will provide state-of-the-art cancer treatment and research services, significantly improving healthcare access for patients in Punjab and beyond.
